Stuff

I started work again last Friday. This year I am going to be counting butterflies in the middle of the afternoon out on Putah creek. It sounds kind of fun, but then I think of how hot it will be, and that I now need to buy a car. By the end of summer I will have a massive farmer's tan :P.

Saturday I helped my parents hold a garage sale. That was pretty boring, but but we got rid of a lot of stuff. My mom sold my old desk for 10$, and I sold my sister's for 4$. Haha I had a better desk. Apparently at 6:30am (we were going to start at 8am) some woman knocked on my mom's door to see the garage sale stuff and wouldn't leave. Some of the people you get right at the beginning of garage sales are amusing.

I have now also seen Star Wars. I liked it, and Katie didn't. I think I liked it because I went into it with such low expectations all the super corny lines didn't really bother me.

All Done

YAY! I'm all done with finals! There were a few mishaps along the way, but its all done now and I don't care anymore. So I went to the wrong final at one thirty today. I thought I had eve 101 but as it turns out I had ent 156. I almost panicked, but I figured it out and got to the correct final right as he was passing out the tests.

Better

Okay, I got a hair cut. I feel a bit better now. The class is being curved so hopefully I will still get an A. (There are only 7 of us in the class so I don't really understand how the curve is supposed to work).

Grrr

I'm frustrated. My ent107 class was basically a big lab with a project. For the project you had to identify 100 families and keep a field notebook. I Identified 101 families correctly and 7 families incorrectly. This would lead you to believe that my identification accuracy would be 93%, but according to them it is 77%. See how they decided to judge accuracy was to start with ten points and deduct .2 something for every mistake. It doesn't really help the grr feeling that all but one of my mistakes were due to me putting the wrong bug with the wrong label when I transfered them to the new box. GRRRRRRR! This sucks.

EVE 101

So, this morning I woke up at 9:00am, after sleeping forever. I went to talk to Katie around 10:00am, and she asked what class I had at 9 am. I told her I didn't have a class then, that my first class was tumbling at 11. After eating dinner with Leilah I realized that I do indeed have a class at 9. I completely forgot I had an eve discussion -_-:.

All-nighter

So, I tried to do an all nighter...and failed. I don't think I've done a successful all nighter in my life. I feel so inadequate :P. As a result of sleeping instead of working I turned in one of the worst papers of my life yesterday. Oddly enough I don't really feel to bad about it. The only things I feel bad about are that my professor has to read it, and that he might think less of my capabilities.

In other news the one of the guys in charge of UCD sports clubs is moving to UC Merced. We had some issues with him this year. So I want to be happy about this, but I keep thinking we are going to have the same issues with the new guy.

Banquet

So the gym club had it's banquet tonight. Which was pretty fun. We ate hamburgers, chicken, and other assorted snacks. Leilah's husband, Patrick, made us all mudslides. I hadn't had one of those before. I think they could use more chocolate, and a bit less alcohol, but it was still good. Roseline told us about some of her stay in Ukraine. Specifically she told us about not showering for two weeks and public bathrooms. She said that by the end of two weeks she could run her hand through her hair and stick it strait up like in "Something about Mary." Apparently the public bathrooms are so gross that it is not uncommon for people to use the sidewalk. So she had a four hour ride ahead of her and had to use one of these things. She went in and found that one of the holes in the ground was literally overflowing and that another had shit smeared on the wall. Apparently people step in the over-flowing yucky stuff and then wipe their feet on the wall to get it off. After that she decided the sidewalk was a better place to go to the bathroom. The take home message here is to be very thankful for flush toilets.

The last couple of days

So my super cool pet isn't as cool anymore. It pupated and is now a light brown color. The chrysalis is still pretty interesting looking but nowhere near the previous level of nifftyness.

In other news I got a new skill on bars. Yay me. Its called an uprise. At the same time as the uprise I also got my first rip in a year or so. I was going to take a picture but it stopped bleeding. It just wasn't as impressive after it started to dry out.

On the same day I got an uprise, and a rip, the power brakes in the van went out. That was scary. I was driving down a hill at the time and discovered that I couldn't depress the brake pedal. I managed to push down hard enough to get it to slow a bit and basically coasted it to the car fixer people. I think it may be time to get rid of the van. But if we do that I will definitely miss having a car.
